Hot Debate on a Sunday Morning! Analyzing Japanese Politics on October 12, 2025!
Hello everyone who's glued to the news first thing on a Sunday! 👋
This morning, I was watching Fuji TV's "Sunday Report" and just couldn't resist picking up the pen (or rather, the keyboard).
Today's topic is none other than the "Prime Ministerial Nomination". There was talk about how the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP), Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japan Innovation Party), and the Democratic Party for the People (DPFP) might form a "majority" and potentially surpass the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)!
Honestly, hearing that, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought, "Wait, is that really okay?" Just think about it for a moment:
[Keyword 1: A Government with Policy Disagreements Won't Last!]
If parties with fundamentally different policies join forces simply "to defeat the LDP," can they truly manage a stable government? 🗳️ With differing ideologies and goals, a coalition would be full of friction and quickly hit a wall. The CDP's idea that "a coalition equals stability" might be a bit naive, don't you think? 😅 I believe it would be far more constructive to debate and proceed on a case-by-case basis for each policy!
[Keyword 2: What Are the People Really Asking For?]
The other thing that concerned me was how both Komeito and the CDP are focusing almost exclusively on the issue of "Politics and Money." While that's certainly an important topic, what is the biggest problem facing the Japanese people right now?
That's right, "High Prices (Inflation)"! 🍞💸
The prices of eggs, vegetables, gasoline—everything is soaring, and our wallets are screaming. What the public truly wants prioritized is not the "money-in-politics problem," but rather "Anti-Inflation Measures" that directly hit their daily lives.
Yet, I feel that TV programs, for some reason, tend to sensationalize "Politics and Money." Perhaps Fuji TV wants to boost the program's excitement with a dramatic topic, but as a viewer, I was thinking, "Talk more about the economy!"
I got a little heated this Sunday morning, but how do all of you view these political developments? Please share your opinions in the comments! 👇
